Conflict of Interest

The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) is dedicated to cultivating an academic environment that advances its core missions of teaching, research, service, and innovation.

Participation in external professional and commercial activities enhances the academic and research mission of the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC). These engagements contribute valuable knowledge to teaching and scholarship, foster research opportunities, and build collaborative relationships that benefit the University community.

At the same time, UMKC recognizes that such activities may give rise to real or perceived conflicts of interest. As a public institution and steward of public trust, UMKC is committed to transparency in identifying, disclosing, and managing potential conflicts to ensure they do not compromise the integrity of our students, faculty, or staff, or the mission of the University.
